Zerotrillion PIctures
As part of my work at ZeroTrillion, I served as sole scriptwriter for their emerging film production company. In the year and a half I worked there, I completed two scripts for them: Cooler and Salem. (Loglines below.)
Both scripts are full length features designed for an Indie budget (sub $5M). The fact that I’m a paid film writer so early in my career is a source of immense pride. And I am equally proud of the worlds and characters I created within.
COOLER:
A struggling chef turns to drug dealing in a last ditch effort to save his failing restaurant.
GENRE: Drama, Comedy
REFERENCES: Emily the Criminal, Rounders
Character-driven and heartfelt, with enough action and humor to stop it from becoming sappy. Cooler was a fun first project because the first thirty pages were already written when I was hired. However, the original writer had no plans for what came next: acts two and three were mine to invent.
SALEM:
An intelligent grad student meets her match in a charismatic “witch-fluencer” after she goes undercover to An isolated retreat.
GENRE: THRILLER, DARK COMEDY
REFERENCES: Blink Twice, Companion
Salem was entirely my own invention, inspired by an article I read about the real-life culture battle happening in Salem, MA between historians and influencers. The script is my love letter to Halloween which, let’s be honest, the industry could use now that Tim Burton has dropped off the deep end.
